I have out these huge rubber grommets on several times in the past. I guess I keep secrets pretty good. I can't remember the easier way to put them on, tried olive oil, 30 weight, grease and a slab of bacon. My hands are very strong and the grommet is new, maybe I should try J&Y jelly. What is the method or secrete? Doc.

Used a large drift punch to push it in - a screwdriver would be too sharp and would slice through it. Had to go around and around pushing a bit at a time until it was done. Took a while!

Second time I had to do this because the first one I installed "cracked" after 2 years so the replacement was from Steele Rubber Products. The gas tank was installed but the filler neck was not.

I remember putting a driveshaft carrier bearing in. Instructions said to use soap as a lube. First tried dish soap(detergent), didn't work at all. Engine oil didn't work. Worked up a thick lather from a bar of bath soap and it went in easily.
