Good Morning,

We are currently working on a 1945 Flxible Clipper we have named Dutch.

Dutch has a 261 Stovebolt 6, we believe, mated to an unknown (yet unidentified is a better descriptor) crashbox/gearbox/transmission.

There is nothing stamped to the machined surface where we believe a serial number would be stamped.

There is "CON4 H31 0" cast into the block, just below the captains bars on what would be the rear passenger side in a 'normal' setup. (Front facing engine.)

Where else might we look for numbers that would help us pin down exactly what we have, such that finding parts is a more exact science - to the extent it can be?

Take Care,

Joshua L. Coder

Joshua, welcome to the 'bolt. this sounds like you have a very interesting and unique project. Please post pictures of the vehicle as well.

Also, please ask questions that are specific to your engine in the engine forums.... that is where you will get the best answers.

Another quality post.

Thank you for the welcome.

I will be sure to post some photographs of the project. (I need to find some photographs that are within the allowed size limit.)

I will post questions on the engine and transmission in the respective areas.

Here's what a late 261 looks like, 1/2 " oil holes etc, if doesn't have the holes it's a 235.

I have to admit I did not know where that was till I looked it up on a map. We have friends in Norwood Young America. He used to be a pastor in Hamburg.

Looks like a cool bus you have there!

We like no one knowing where we are.

Thanks for the compliment on the bus.
