Does any one else have this type of setup? I can bearely keep up with traffic on back roads! Engine runs strong and has not had any problems. That's about all you'll get out of a 216 and that should only be for a limited time. 216's don't have alot of horse power or oil pressure so they need alot of TLC to make them last. You'll get alot of advise here so keep checking in often. (take mine with a grain of salt usually)

I've seen ads for overdrive units that bolt to the back of the trnsmission. there are also period auxilary transmissions. I'd come up and visit, but I have a '49 with a splasher and a 4-speed and it would take a long time (45 MPH top speed, you know).

I figure 45 is a safe speed with no power steering no power brakes and bias tires (7.00 -17). Any faster than that I don't think the 8800 Lb. truck would handle to well!
