on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Anyway I have a 54 deluxe Chevy pick up with Hydromatic. What seems to be happening ever since I came here was once I put the vehicle in to drive there seems to be this clickety clack noise coming from the front of the engine one placed in drive like around the timing chain, maybe it’s the circumstances that the timing chain needs to be replaced, I don’t know, anyone have any interesting responses? thank you TODD | | | | | Joined: Dec 2019 Posts: 439 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2019 Posts: 439 | what is your engine? a original six does not have a timing chain, just gears

That will help you determine if the noise is internal or external. A cold engine should be able to run for at least a couple of minutes without overheating, even if the fan and water pump aren't turning. Jerry
