It has air over hydraulic brakes. I heard from someone this is not a desirable feature. What is the downside to these? Also, are parts still available for the system?
It also has independent front suspension. I have only seen one other truck with this setup, and have no idea if it is a problem. I suspect if it was very successful, they would have continued with it, but there has to be very few around that I can tell. What are the problems with this setup?

I had a 62' GMC with it and used it a lot for several years w/o any problems at all. Sure wish they still made those good old V6's.
The brakes should not be aproblem at all either. They had many lawsuits over them. I amagine if they havn,t broke by now they probably never will.

It had the Torsion Bar front suspension. Sweetest riding "Big Truck', I've ever owned. It had power steering, & full air brakes,and it was carrying a big block 348. I also had a 1964 Chevrolet LCF L60 series, that was air/over hdraulic. I had no problems, with this truck either. I especially liked having another truck, equipted, with an air compressor. Any big truck repair center, should be able to locate parts, for these trucks. A Chevrolet Parts Catalog, for these years,with part numbers, will always give you an advantage, when parts hunting. | | |
