Welcome! Beautiful wrecker you have there! As mentioned, be sure to visit the Big Bolt Forum. Our man Spanky over there is the guru of Holmes wreckers. He'd love to see this one.

If you go on our Search page, and enter "Holmes Wrecker," there are a lot of links on our site re same. I notice the first few are not on Stovebolt but start mid way down ... and on and on, there are plenty. I recall doing some stories about HW. Thought they were incredibly cool.

Great looking truck! Welcome to the forum. My original exposure to old Chevrolet trucks was when I was 18 and working as a mechanic at a school bus fleet. We had a 1964 Chevrolet, (I don't know if it was a C-50 or a C-60.) It had what we called a "Chicago Boom" 4 welded pipes and a PTO driven winch. We had a clutch lever and an up/down lever, the PTO had no Neutral. Every once and a while it would jump into gear while driving down the road..... not good. This was a real neat truck, but too light for hauling school buses. Eventually it was replaced with a 1976 International 1810 Cargostar Cabover. This had a Holmes twin boom, perhaps just a bit bigger than the one posted here. It certainly had a longer bed. After the kinks were worked out, it was a good truck. The crazy thing was that there was absolutely no training. My training was being handed a piece of paper with an address and told that a bus was broken down there, go get it. I have a ton of stories from those days.
Welcome to the “Bolt”! Awesome wrecker in pristine condition. Tell us about your other wreckers and post more pictures!

If any of your guys are in thru or around Chattanooga there is a wrecker museum that it very well done. Lots of Holmes in there take maybe a hour if your time and two if you like reading details. I was surprised on my first pass. I went back a second time my next time thru.
