hay is there anybody that has any intrest in the huge GMC engines
here is a list of engines I found in one of my old truck repair book pretty cool
all these engines were availible in bigger gmc trucks
478 ci V6
702 ci V12
637 ci V8 this engine was still availible in 72 would love to have one of these to tinker with

I was thinging that may be you were talking about some engines I have not heard of. the engines you listed were used from 1960 to 1974.

Jolly, I sure hate you lost interest, in the pre 1955 COE trucks. Man, I could only dream of, as much info., & pictures of COE's, as you have of the 60-66 trucks.

Spanky, I didn't really loss interest in those trucks, just found some thing I liked more. The Website I started is now part of ClassicCOE.com , and the Old COE Trucks group has grown to over 450 members now.

Yes I didn't have the info for those old COE trucks that I have found for the 1960-1966 GMC Trucks , but I did get something going for them onthe web, which has now been taken over by guys like you, which are much more an expert on those Old COEs then I every was.

So Spanky, did you get one of those Old COE CDs I did a few years ago?

Didn't GMC run some BIG inline sixes in their over-the-road tractors back in the early 50's? My uncle ran a big gas-engine tractor that had been retired from one of the local trucking companies back in the late 50's to haul the big boats he repaired. I can't remember much about it, other than it had a crash-box 4 or 5-speed trans and had to be double-clutched between every gear. It was a single-screw rig, with vacuum-over-hydraulic brakes, I think.

do you have any info on the GMC 637 V8? seemed like your website was pretty sparse of info about the 637.
also what is the diffrence between a 305c and a 305e?
sorta a newfound interest in old gmc engines
wondering if I could fit a 478 in my 46 2 ton

I've been told the 637 cube V-8 is an IHC engine.And Mack offered a 707 6 cylinder gas engine,it it the same one GMC had?
6 cylinder gas engines were as large as 1000 cubic inches built by manufacturers like Continential before Diesels took over in the 50's
