I'm runing it through a 350 turbo tranny and a 3:08 rear. Dual exhaust with 40 series flowmasters. Its in my 61 panel daily driver. What should I expect for reasonable mpg? Right now I'm in the single digits and its costing me a fortune to run. I was hoping to get 12-13 mpg is that out of the question? Thanks

Also, you probably occasionally accellerate hard and use the extra power you have. Most people I've talked to get about 9 MPG with Burbs. I had a 1968 F250 that got that milage in town with a 360 CID engine and the same milage after I installed a 300 horse 500 footpound 460 CID engine. The most I ever got with either engine was 14 MPG. The performer carb is a little rich out of the box. You can get a calibration kit for it & try leaner jets &/or metering rods. Check your initial timing & advance mechanisms.
How does the 290 HP. idle with an automatic? I,ve always used the 260 HP model.

New brakes all around (front disc conversion) so they are not dragging. Timing is on. I think its running rich but the plugs dont back that up. I purposely drove carefully after the last fill up and got 9 mpg. I am going to try and lean it out, hover edlebrock told me that this carb out of the box is fine? As for idleing with the 350 it idles great. I see no reason why a 'burb shouldn't get simular mileage,
