Many years ago, my dad and I were working on a hay baler, and next day we noticed that the screw knurl and pin were missing off his 12 inch crescent wrench (model at112).
After he died, I inherited his tool box, and that wrench was still in the box (still without the adjustment screw). For many years I just left it as-is and kept it, just out of memories.
About a week ago, I decided it would be nice to find the parts and get it into working order. To my dismay, I have not been able to find the knurl and pin and spring to repair a
model at112 crescent wrench. you can find replacement parts for 6, 8, 10, etc. size wrenches, but for some reason amazon, e-bay, and all second-hand suppliers do not have the
replacement parts for a 12 inch (at112) wrench. Is there some reason that the 12 inch crescent wrench (at112) is a dinosaur product? I would appreciate any suggestions as to
where I might obtain the replacement parts, or should I just frame it over my workbench?

Thanks, Goofyokie42

Welcome to the Stovebolt Forums, Goofyokie42!! I think that wrench would look great framed over your work bench. It would be a conversation starter, for sure! With how cheap adjustable wrenches can be these days, that might be the best path for that old guy.

When you have a chance, head over to the Welcome Forum and introduce yourself!

I have a helpful tip for you if you feel like doing it. Create a signature for yourself, see mine as an example. This way, if you create a post about about your truck, folks will have a reference instead of having to ask you what you are working on.

Again, Welcome to the Stovebolt! We hope you stay a while!

Don't frame it! Just make sure it stays in your tool box as is.
Every time you see it, you will think about your Dad and the memories may bring tears to your eyes.
Then keep on working and get the job done like he would have done!

Don't ask me how I know.
Don

Welcome

That Crescent AT112 is still being sold (Home Depot, etc.), but probably not near the tool it was back when your dad bought his.
I like the framed over the workbench idea, but you might try contacting Crescent Tool Co. (800) 621-8814 and ask them about parts. I'll bet they'd send you a replacement wrench, but that's not what you want. I did find a replacement parts page on their Website.
I have a few of my dad's tools, and cherish them. thumbs_up

I just checked all of my 12 inch Crescent wrenches, 2 are older but neither are an AT112. The newer ones I have are not as solid looking as the older ones. I'm not saying that the newer tools are by any way inferior, they just don't have the same feel and weight to them.

I only have one or two of my Dad's tools, and as Kevin said I cherish them.

....don't ever give up. You may want to try some farm auctions if any in your area. Also, check every crescent wrench you pick up and you may find one with the screw that will work...........that is if you can't find the replacement part. If I had an old one i'd give it to you!

That alloy artifacts website is definitely a cool one. I found it when researching a 1/4" drive Craftsman tool set I inherited from my dad. It had markings that were unusual and turned out to be '40's era. A cool walk back into history. thumbs_up

John, thanks for the journey into movie history as well. The one translation I found that struck me was. "There's hope for Earth, if the scientists can be reached."
If that's too political, feel free to slap my hand.

I've got a bunch of my fathers tools... most of them are plumb wore out... he bought a huge tool box and filled it with new craftsman tools AND his wore out collection. He told me I could have it when he passed, but my step-brother gave it to his son.

This came from an auction, a mom and pop hardware store was closing down having lost out to the big box stores.. The spare parts that they had for such wrench rebuilds...

Hello Okie,

You might keep your eyes open at a swap meet or flea market for a doner wrench, occasionally one will show up
which parts could be robbed off of. I have used a 1/4-28 thread bolt cut down for a pin on a 10-12 inch crescent.
Good Luck

At home we had several old Vlchek flat head wrenches, mostly worn-out,I ran across some that were pretty comfortable to use though. I used to use nothing but snap-on didn't get hurt as bad !!
