Guys , I'm getting ready to install my Toyota ps gearbox and I was looking for help from any body that has done this. Can you tell me where to cut my column off or do I slide it in and cut it off where it feels right? This is an original '48 pickup and steering column, but will be using a Toyota 4 x 4 ps gear box. Any help would be helpfull! Thanx.

I use a dummy column...broom stick with a disc on the top to get my final inner column length. Once you cut the column from the box it's going to be "parts only" and seeing you've mounted the Toyo box in basically the same location as the stock box I'd allow myself as much leeway as possible. You can always cut it off shorter. I'm assuming that you can sit in the seat of your truck get a "feel" for what's comfortable for you.

You'll want to consider moving the wheel a bit closer to the instrument panel but you've got to watch and make sure you don't block your view to your gauges. Once you get your rag joint position figured, you can shorten your outer column housing and install your bushing.

I shorted myself when i did mine with a caddy column ...shoulda went 3inches more ...but is in an it too late ...just hope i dont get Fat in my old age or ill be rubbin the wheel !...gonna fix it after i get paint an on the darn road !..i can deal with a wheel in my face for a few cruises ...lol..IT IS NEVER DONE !...lol
