After removing the sliders and finding out how bad they are rotted on the bottoms, I have decided to rebuild them, I have an extra set from another 57 Suburban and hopefully I can use both sets to make one good set. I carefully removed the glass, documenting the order in which the rubbers and trims all go very carefully, I dropped all the glass off to my friends glass shop, They are looking for the right thickness glass in the same tinted grey color that will match the one pc. power windows I have for the doors, that I bought 10 years ago. I do not have the rear glass, I am changing the rear hatch to barn doors and I am missing the glass to those doors, I will have to make a template out of 1/4 inch plywood and drop that to the glass shop as well. Not sure if I have the rubbers for them, Will have to check my box of parts. I have decided to keep the original motor 347 pontiac with the hydromatic transmission, I will have to figure out brackets to work with the AC unit that will be installed. But figure that should be easier and much less expensive than changing the motor and transmission to a chevy motor. (hopefully). I have the parts ready to go to the chrome shop, maybe this week if I have a chance to drive there. Hopefully, I can do some more welding on it tomorrow, expecting some fender tips this week and have a couple more small patches to make around the wheel wells. And have to weld in the new steps which I already have cut out and fitted. Trying not to forget anything that will make me have to take apart things I have already done.
DS1957GMC, the guys are advising about an AD barn door glass. AD means "Advance Design". This is the era 47-55 1st series. You have a TF. Which means "Task Force". This is the era 55 2nd series-1959. That era also has a curved barn door window because of the slight curve of the door. They are supposedly available HERE

Oh, yeah, I totally forgot that they are slightly curved, funny thing is, happened to put a straight edge across the opening and it seemed to be flat, Well I guess I better figure this out now., I actually just dropped off one of the doors to my buddies glass shop today with a new gasket and asked him to make a template. He is going to order a sheet of the tinted grey glass to match my one pc. door glass I have, then I remembered, I didnt even have glass for the rear doors. I am sure that when he makes the template I would be getting a call to let me know it is curved. Thank you for the info, I will look into the glass place you left for me, Hopefully can get in the tinted. Now that I think of it, I believe I discussed this with my friend at the glass shop many years ago when I bought the tinted one pc window kit. (it was going to be for my other suburban) And I believe we were going to just tint the window with some of that stick on tint to match the sides. I believe the hatch and tailgate that was on the truck also has a curved window. Did you see the photos, I finally put up? I think I accidentally put them up in the Forums page. Hello again, I guess I will write a progress report, And would like to thank Bartamos for the curved glass info.. I was able to reach out to that glass shop ad they did supply me with the curved glass I needed for the rear barn doors, and it was available in the same grey tint I already have. I am close to being done with my patching and welding.( just dont have much free time anymore) I just designed and ordered the stereo and entertainment system for the truck, 1st pc showed up today. I guess once I have completely finished the welding, which is getting better as I go,, then I will sand the truck down bare and start the next process, refitting the doors and hood and making sure the body gaps all look good. Still havent made it to the chrome shop yet. Was hoping to get the welding done this weekend coming but now have to go look at new pianos for my 9 year old son, His playing and skill level have exceeded my old piano, Time for a baby grand, I may have scored a nice used Kawai, but havent looked at it yet. doing all that this weekend. Trying to decide on a color for the truck, I think some form of a red, maybe candy pearl red or something similar. Does anyone have any good interior custom places to look at seats for it?? I was hoping for swivel buckets with heat for the front and matching for the back. still so much to do, I better get to it, will post some more pics soon.
It sure looks like your are ready "getting to it". Thanks for the report and going the way you are you do not have time to be tired so keep trucking brother. Progress is progress.....even 15 minutes a day will accomplish much.
Edit: ....and be sure to leave a weekend for Stovebolt Homecoming in April if this virus lets up. Your probably not far from where it will most likely be....and keep an eye out for the ODSS gang, a close eye!!
