I found a GMC 5 window cab and front clip. Both in good condition. I was wondering how to tell the difference between the Chevy and GMC 5 window cabs. I cant find anything out there that says there different and if there is a difference what it might be.

Welcome, and good question. What year cab and clip? I guess you know the differences between 47-53 and 54-55-1st series?
The 47-53 had different speaker grilles and different gauges between Chevy and GMC. Of course those can be changed/swapped. The 54 and 55-1st series GMC had an entirely different dash from Chevy. https://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/images/hoover_dave_1954c.jpg

That is a '54-'55 panel for kosanow1's info. The engines are different, if one is in it.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

It's a 47-53 I think. It has the same gauges my 52 GMC has. The interior looks just like my 52. It also has the block (no head) of a 228 still in it.

For the narrow down a DS cowl vent being present will help, 47-50 have it 51 on does not. The next thing to check is the serial number tag on the DS between the hinges.
GMC will be like this, again year dependent.

Other than the radio grill as mentioned there is really no difference, I have seen this plate on the floorboard of some GMC cabs. I am unsure of the years equipped but it may be part of the puzzle.

This is the only Chevrolet I found the plate on (1 in 32, I owned) so it may be early series or plant specific. You can see the oblong hole it covers near the column. This truck is a 1947.
