Hi Folks,

'77 chevy van/truck front ends have a 5 on 5" bolt pattern. I am searching for a rotor to switch that to a 5 on 4 3/4" bolt pattern.

Any leads as to where I could find that are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Colin

Napa catalog shows part number 85542 on 78 on back G10 vans. It doesn,t give the dimentions but it is all by it,self for that model.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Those vans never used the 5x4 3/4" pattern, only the 5x5". You'll most likely have to drill the stockers for the pattern. Perhaps a local machine shop can do it for you.

I don't know enough about the later trucks and vans, but what about these.

Or the same rotors with a different bearing setup.

The van front end has the 5x5" pattern.
My rearend is a camaro 5 on 4 3/4. I need the bolt pattern to match and was told that I could buy rotors with the bolt pattern I want.

Thanks.

Colin, they are around but I can't remember right now where I got mine. I bought the rotors to go on a Stang II spindle I put on my 37 so it would be 5 lug pattern like the rear Malibu axle.
Hang tight. Someone will have the answer.

the c10 rotors i have have reinforcement between the wheel studs.the holes would have to be welded up before new holes could be drilled.

Are you committed to using the Camaro rearend? Perhaps getting a diff that matches the front end might be better, you'll have better matched capacity and brakes, and the wheel pattern will match.

I might have to look into getting them redrilled then. What shop, or type of shop, would/could do that?

I am commited to the camaro rear, lots of money into it, let alone a good ratio, disc brakes, and posi.

Appreciate it.

You might look into having the Camaro axles redrilled instead of the front disks. If the disks have webs in the way, that might be a better option.

Another thought. Look for some of the unilug wheels that will fit both 5 x 4.75 and 5 x 5. I've got a set that will fit either with a change of lug nuts (no that isn't an offer to sell them). With wheels like those, or just one of them as a spare, you might not need to redrill either end.

Thanks Steve,

Which bolt pattern has more readily available wheel types?
When I go to a wheel/tire shop to buy new wheels, I want to have the most selection possible.

Let's hope you find an easy way to avoid it but if you need rotors, spindles, or axles re-drilled I can do it for you.

Thanks Curt, we'll see what else I can find first.

I kind of figured it would be better to go to the 5 on 4 3/4.

Thanks.

Oh I think the 5 x 4-3/4 is going to be the most common by far. But if you study a wheel catalog I think you'll find most wheels are available in multiple patterns. And really I think you only care that the wheels you want will fit your truck.

Have you chosen wheels?

You might look at fitments for late rear drive Impala/Caprice. They used both patterns. Std Caprice had the 5 x 4 3/4, Police, taxi, and SS models had the 5 x 5.

I stand corrected. Just checked out sites for 3 of the big names for wheels. None have a dual pattern the has 5x4 3/4 and 5x5. Lots of 5x4 3/4 and 5x4 1/2 though. Uni-lug might be the best choice, most likely Cragar or Halibrand, but they are high $$$.

Colin, I had a thought this morning about your problem. Here's my idea-Instead of redrilling rotors or trying to find non-existant/hard to get dual pattern wheels, how about redrilling the rear axles for the 5x5 pattern, then use late RWD Caprice police/ Impala SS rotors? I think that the rotors are the same or at least close to the overall diameter of the Camaro peices, and they have the 5x5 pattern. Just a thought.

That's definantly an option Bill, thanks.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a bolt on rotor with a 5 on 4 3/4 pattern, but...yeah know.
