Hello everyone, another new guy showed up and happy to have a 1951 one ton long bed from Canada. Little surface rust and painted boatswain blue maybe thirty years ago. Original body with a straight six 194 engine put into it by a previous owner who was a grain farmer and GM mechanic. The last owner converted it to 12 volts but the horn, radio and gauges were not reconnected. The split rims are 17" and the rear leaf spring package is 11 leafs under another overload package of 7 leafs. The original bed was pine with a burn hole from the exhaust pipe. I replaced the grain box with one of white oak and later the bed will also be replaced with white oak. Bed strips were painted blue and rusted so they'll go back in blue again less the rust. The truck also is a dump truck with a dual ram unit that was made in California. The mounting looks farm built as does the spare tire mount. It's a four speed on the floor with 87200 miles on it My hunt has begun and I have been reading some of the threads which have already been very helpful. Very nice. The one tons are getting harder to find in the GMC 1 tons are even more scarce at least in my searching over the last couple years. Congrats and welcome to the site.

Hello, I’ve been working on a 48 chevy 3800 for a couple months. Recently swapped the frozen 216 for a 1955 235. Couple setbacks- need short water pump, 235’s 12v starter wouldn’t work with my original flywheel so I had to go back to original which I’m not sure will work long term, had to drill mount plate on 235 for original front motor mount location, harmonic damper on the 235 has 3/8” pulley and original water pump has 5/8” (still not sure what to do here), throttle linkage needs removed and shortened. Other than that it’s a fairly easy swap. I used original bell housing, pressure plate, and 4 speed Tranny.
