Im looking for ideals on moving my gas tank from behind the seat to a new tank between the frame rails under the bed any info on vendors or a donner gas tank from another truck/car that will work ?

Get yourself a Custom Classic Trucks or a Classic Trucks magazine at a newstand and look through all of the vendors that advertise in them. You'll probably find a half dozen or more to choose from with a large variety in prices too. There's several ways to go on the tanks and even more ways to go on fuel filler designs.

I got some info from 'acmegarage' on a 67 thru 70 nova gas tank that will work. I wonder how hard it will be to install a intank fuel pump so that i can run a TBI on my 350

For the mustang tank I used, I have a frame mounted mustang fuel pump. Never had a problem.

Good ideal ! I.ll look in to it, I just left the junkyard and checked out a 1991 chevy blazer 31 gallon gas tank with the in tank fuel pump that might work also

If you find a tank that fits then it shouldn't be too hard to install an in tank pump and filter. Make sure the pump and filter will be deep enough in the tank to grab gas at the bottom, you don't wanna install a 30 gal tank just to find that your pump starts sucking air in after 15 gallons. Just enlarge the access hole to whatever size you need and bolt it in place. When enlarging the whole make sure you don't get metal flakes in the tank. I saw one of the power block guys putting petrolium jelly on his drill bit to hold the flakes in place so they don't fall in the tank, or at least not so many flakes will fall in the tank and cleanup will be easier.

I was at the junkyard today and found a tank from a 1969 nova that would also work out great and with the intank pump sending unit from a 90 chevy 1500 it puts the pump & strainer almost on the bottom and locks in with the factory o ring & retainer. The tank from the 91 blazer would be cool because it already set up with the in tank pump and it's a 31 gallon tank. I'll post pictures when I get finished with whichever one works the best

Go with dual tanks if you can't find one big enough. Your local auto parts store will carry an electical switchover off a four letter word truck (don't chastise me for using Ford parts). I installed dual tanks and removed the tank behind the seat. One junk yard tank and one LMC tank. Works great.

I finally got hold of a digital camera. sorry no shots of the completed set up as i'm about to haul the 1/2t off to the blaster..... paint soon.

these shots are of my under pass bed gas tank, a 16 gallon w/ the old cab filler turned 180 and welded to a plate. a decorative piece made to cover the bed outside was welded to the original cab filler neck and bolted w/ three 1/4'' bolts.

i flared out the stock filler neck at the end to 2''. this mounts to the passenger side, in front of the rear fender, below wood skirting. there is room for a 2'' hose to connect the filler spout to the tank inlet neck.

the top of the univ. tank filler neck was welded closed. i really do not like the filler in the wood area of the bed. a piece of 2'' muffler pipe was fit & welded to the tank top-edge, side, inline w/ the new hole cut into the bed skirt. the tank comes w/ an anti-roll vent so the rubber hose can be placed above the tank's highest point. i welded shut the original filler neck's vent tube as it was not needed w/ this new tank. i vented mine to inside the fender well & directed it so mud and crud will not plug the hose end. i had to cut out the stock 3104's frame 'corner plate' so the tank would fit as far forward. the four threaded rods are held up to the under side of the bed so the tank is as high as possible. 1/2''nuts welded to small plates welded to the bed's cross wood braces hold the tank up, then double nuted (nyloc). i glued rubber strips to the bottom cross braces as well as the top of the tank when fitted so vibration is eliminated. tank finished in Por 15. if you do this you may have to cut the rear tank corner, next to the pumpkin and weld back a plate, the new 12 bolt rear end was fitted @ the same time @ 2-1/2'' back. this is a some-what tight fit length wise and the kits only offset available @ 1-1/2'' offset. i think the 2-1/2'' offset looks A LOT better than the 1-1/2''.

that gave me all the room i needed to fit the full 16 gal tank. the gas pick-up fuel is @ the rear along w/ the sender. i set the sender so it should show empty but it has 3-4 gallons left as reserve.
