| | | | Joined: Oct 2019 Posts: 131 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2019 Posts: 131 | So, while tinkering with the transmission I decided to drain the rear end and remove the back cover. I am encouraged by the
condition of the fluid and gears and decided to replace the axle seals while I have it apart. However, as I'm working on stuff
I spray PB Blaster on nuts and bolts in the area so I can remove them if need be. There are three bolts in the front part of
the differential housing and I loosened them then tightened them back up. Now I have found out they are pinion assembly
lock screws. Now I'm wondering if I've messed something up? Is there some sort of clearance or torque spec I may have
changed?

If they have a lock washer you should be fine as long as the lock washers are flattened out. Chevrolet's 1938 Shop Manual Axles Car and 1/2 ton truck axles are virtually repaired the same way. | | |
