Just got a call from Scott Schifflet about a photo shoot to promote upcoming national show in Harrisonburg,with Springfield being virtual he wants to do promo video for Harrisonburg. The photo shoot to put together a video to promote the 2021 ATHS National Truck Show & Convention is on as planned. The weather looks to be excellent. The time for this is 1PM at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg, Va.

As we all are wrapped up in the coronavirus epidemic preparations are still going on for the 2021 ATHS National Show & Convention in Harrisonburg, Va. This coming Saturday May 2nd there will be a photo shoot of trucks to make a video of antique trucks for ATHS Headquarters use as an advertisement to promote the 2021 show. This will take place at the Rockingham County Fair Grounds in Harrisonburg, Va. Those that would like to have your truck used for the photo shoot you are more than welcome. I will send out a email closer to May 2nd with more details as the time and any other available information. For more information contact Scott Shifflett at 540-478-4389.

That’s in my backyard, but alas, no running Bolts on the property. If the actual event happens, Bolters will be welcome to stay on our property about 25 minutes away.

Plenty of room for all the bolters. We have a cabin with plenty of room to put a bedroll and acres of land to pitch a tent, or park a camper. I’ve only been to one of the big shows and that was at Macungie... great time! I’m looking forward to this one.

I have a cousin that I visit when I get out that way that lives on the westside of 81 north of Harrisonburg. I was hoping to combine a trip there before or after Homecoming.

Thanks George! I'll have to pass, though -- A few of us are already signed up for traffic control detail, working for Scotty Shifflet. This will be about the 5th time (?) we've worked this detail as a small core group -- and it looks like he has a special camping area set up so we can all be together, which should be good. Traffic detail can be brutal, and when we get off at the end of the day, we usually have just enough left to get to a folding chair that isn't too far away ... Billy, Mike B, Mike R and some others will recall such great duty stations as "Hell's Gate" (Baltimore), "Chaos Corner" (Huntsville) and who will ever forget "Malfunction Junction" at York??? I'm pretty sure both Billy and I suffered PTSD from that one. As I recall, South Bend was pretty benign ... until Scott Ward showed up at the transporter gate ...

I think York takes the cake for the worst traffic issues out of them all...it was none stop all week! We parked close to 1250 show trucks...don't be surprised to see numbers like that next year

Those were some long days for sure. Someone told me there was a truck show going on too, huh?
Worth it though in the end and can't wait to don the ol reflective vest and orange hat for Mr. Shifflett again next year.
I think Mike is right, with this years show going virtual, we could set all kinds of records in 2121!

I didn't see any truck show ... I was dodging golf carts ...

There are plenty of camping spots at the Rockingham county fairgrounds. All the people that show livestock at the fair camp there all week. I’ve loaned my camper to several friends who have parked there. It’s a huge area and will be a great venue for the show.

1200 show trucks, 400 transporters, 500 golf carts and public parking will fill that place up fast!

Mack trucks hardly got a mention I thought there would be a few of them we have a lot of them out here in Australia

I think it will be a great show! I can't wait.
TIm, if you want to see some awesome Macks then you would have to go to the ATCA show in Macungie Pennsylvania. Beautiful show grounds with some amazing trucks but it is Mack country so there are lots of them there. I once thought about restoring one and even bought an old fixer-upper B model but then decided it would take too much money to restore even come close to some of the beauties there.
I did have fun learning how to shift a twin stick in the brief time I owned it.

Billy I worked with a transport company when I was younger had lots of Mack’s from B61 to ultra liners even had some chain drive off road Euclid style dump trucks with 671 Detroit engines they were a challenge had automatic Tran in them yes the twin stickers were another beast

A 6-71 on an Allison .... THAT had to be a peculiar sound ...

And traffic patrol at York 2015 was kind enough to reserve a spot next to John's 1949 1 ton (the flagship stovebolters command vehicle) for my 1948 Chevrolet 3100 shorted to park. I can vouch for the misery you guys suffered at apparent bottleneck prior to staged photograph positioning spot. We need more 1947-1953 Advance Design vehicles represented. V/r, Nick

only previously going to Kentucky show, i am very excited about Harrisonburg. you veterans Mike ,Bill ,John will have to show me where i can be helpful, as Napcoman offered it is a home show for me as well and i am 30 minutes North along 81 and can help with some trailer parking. If some are making a couple of trips with multiple vehicles i am sure we can help Pat66
