Also would the regular 80W-90 GL-5 be the correct weight and type for it?

The fill plug is about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom , and it states to use 140 weight gear oil on the cover. Could the cover been removed at one time and been put on upside down? The ones on my truck are hydraulic winches and not chain driven.

| | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 942 | I've got an old '69 Model Holmes. The plug is on the top of the cast iron housing. The one I have does not have a cover with a plug in it. I looked for a spill-over plug, but did not see one anywhere.
