I pulled all the sheet metal from my 55.5 1/2 ton then noticed the frame is bent in the front just before were the firewall was. I would like to get a straight frame with IFS. I heard that a 2wd 73-87 1/2 ton short box chevy will work. Or a s-10 2wd extended cab frame would work. Does anyone have any information on this. If so how much fabing would be needed to pull this off. What are the pros and cons.

thanks

I too would like to know if the 73-87 2wd is a quick swap. I have a 65 c10 2-wd non-power steering and brakes.
I just bought a 85 c10 with p/s and brakes.
I've been told that ya can remove all the frame rail bolts and riverts and slide the whole mess up under the 65.
True???
Thanks, George Hood . CLinton N.C.

actually, the hi-po shop area doesn't seem to get a whole lotta traffic,,do a search for "frame" here. the 73-87 crossmember will swap easily into the 65, but I think the s10 frame is better choice for the 54 & 55,,brian

A mid 80's S-10 longbed regular cab will do the trick.

Here's a fella that sells a kit to do the conversion. If your good at fabricating, you could probably tackle it yourself without the kit.
