I have a 1946 fully restored but it's not that much fun to drive. I bought a 1951 3600 long bed 5 window to restore. You could say it's in kit from at the moment. I started looking at 2008 - 2012 Chevy canyons. The wheel base is within an 1 inch of the 51. Has any one put the body of a 49- 53 on a Chevy canyon or th c colarado?

There's a ton of threads on S10 swaps, but I've never seen one on a Canyon/Colorado. I think it's because the S10's are cheap and plentiful. Not to mention there is a huge aftermarket following. Looking at the frame of a Colorado, they look like a much better design than the S10. The S10 curves and narrows and has a lot going on. The Colorado seems a little simpler, I would think it would yield itself to a chassis swap very well.

That is my thought as well. More research to do.

Maybe you will be our up and coming expert on that . Maybe time for something different. It sounds like a good idea . I thought about it when I started my project but couldn't find one affordable . a coworker had an S10 4X4 with a bad engine $400 later I am hoping to keep 4 wheel drive, and stock look. I am blessed with the three welders mig,tig, arc and a lot of scrap metal . who knows what will roll out of the barn someday. I have not found anyone out there that has done this yet. Good luck .

Another one to look at is in the blue oval arena. The 1st gen Sport Trac is 125.9 wheel base, which is about perfect for a 3600 truck. I believe the Ranger ext. Cab is the same. The second gen Sport Trac is 130" wheel base. A little long, but some frame shortening would be required. The bonus with it is the IRS rear suspension. You could commit bow-tie heresy and put a blue small block between the frame rails also.
