I wonder if anyone out there has tried to convert the outside door handles ( 47-51) to the push button type on 53-55. I'm sure some hole plugging and drilling would be required. Is a donor door required or is a kit available. 1951 doors seem most plentiful but I much prefer the push button handles and vent windows.

It would probably be easier just to find a set of 52-55 doors. The entire latch assembly inside the door is different, the striker on the cab is different, and the mounting holes for the handle are different. It has been a number of years, but in the past I tried to convert a 52 door to the turn down handle for use on my 51. Nothing fit right, and I wound up finding a good 51 door instead.

This has been discussed many times here and a search may turn up some good info and reading.
From my take over the years it can be a hassle for sure and if my memory is good most say it would be best to look for someone wanting to go the opposite way and trade doors.....or look for donor doors.
Save yourself a lot of aggravation and 4 letter words and look for later doors.........in the meantime enjoy what you have and maybe, just maybe you'll decide to stay with what you have???

Hang tight, I"m sure others will chime in.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
