I rebuilt my 1949 Chevy Truck Carburetor (Carter W-1) that did not run in ~ 5 years. I removed lots of rust and gunk; I clean it using carb cleaner. After I put it back together and installed it ran good for a bit and it started to spilling gasoline thru the metering rod housing. I took it apart again put it back together and it is doing the same thing. I’m no mechanic but I know how to follow instructions. Any ideas what can be causing this? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 2,774 Carburetion specialist | | Carburetion specialist Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 2,774 | (A) defective fuel valve (B) fuel valve out of adjustment (C) defective float (D) too much fuel pressure (electric pump???) Jon. Good carburetion is fuelish hot airThe most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify. I was out running around town all morning, can home and parked in the driveway. Went out an hour later, fuel everywhere. The seam in the float gave out while setting, truck was running great all morning. | | |
