The last one I got has the cutout for the bellhousing mounts but the rear tab won't clear the oil pan to seat. Is there a certain way it can only go on? A picture perhaps. 1960 261 3 speed. Any help is appreciated.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. I'm not 100% sure but do not believe they interchange due to different bellhousings on 216/235/261 and the V8 and later sixes. A study of the later Master Parts List books might help in determining if the same part number carries across from 216/235/261 to later engines. I've also met similar looking pans with different (and incompatible) profiles on the joint line between upper and lower segments. | | | | Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 307 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 307 | I was surprised to find there were more than two kinds. The repops are often marketed as universal fit.

One exception would be some of the clutch release forks. Fred

The change occurs somewhere around when the 235 got insert bearings. | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 | Here is my list. Chevrolet called them "underpans". The front vertical part is called "extension". This is a six cylinder list only.
