The '55 is my dream truck, but the Green Machine is my work horse around here. I got it in halfway decent shape about a year or so ago. It was running but the dump was not working. Fabbed up a couple of hinges, played with the hydraulics and have never looked back. She has hauled a little over 300 tons of gravel for the driveway so far and has more than paid for herself.

I love it. I really do. I got it running and dumping back in the spring when it was still raining non-stop. I was in a hurry to get started putting in the new driveway, and I tried to bring in the first load of gravel a little too soon. The ground was way to soft. 9 tons of gravel in the bed and I hit that soft clay and felt her start to sink. It dropped to the axle and never stopped turning the tires! Never stalled, it just kept digging the whole time we sank. Even when I screw up and make a foolish mistake the old girl keeps giving all she has.

Nice Truck!
Keep it maintained which you obviously are and it will serve you well.
The 292 has tons of low end grunt.

4 speed +2 Or?

I've had my 64 C80 for over 40 yrs. and has done a Great Job for me.

The 292 is a great engine.

I wouldn't have wanted any other engine in my '64 C-30.

Well except maybe for a 4-53 Detroit, lol.
