I need to raise my driver's side door about 1/4". It's gouging the strike plate and sometimes doesn't latch.

I loosened the 3 bolts on the pillar ends of each of the hinges. The door won't slide up (or down). I have put a floor jack under the door to gently coax it upward, but it won't budge.

Has corrosion I can't see locked it into place.

Thanks!!!!

How far off is the beltline at the front of the door and the cab?

It is the ~1 1/4" bulge which surrounds the cab at the level of the of the wipers. It is where the original pinstripe is located. It is a great reference for aligning doors to cab.

Ah yes. The beltline at the front of the door is about 1/4" (7/32" actually) lower than that on the cab. After lossening the 6 hinge bolts, the door still won't move up or down.

Remove a bolt at the A pillar on the upper and lower hinge. See which one is out of hole, remove hinge, elongate hole, reinstall hinge, restart adjustment procedure. Repeat as necessary.

Lets back up a few steps before we proceed further.
Did you rebuild the hinges? If not, there is a good chance that worn hinge pins are causing door sag which cannot be compensated for at the hinge pillar.
Worn hinge pins are the #1 cause of beat up door latches and poorly fitted doors.

Thanks, Guys,

I'm slow at fixing things (and replying!). Would worn hinge pins cause the hinge to not slide up or down when the 6 pillar bolts are loosened? Seems the hinge should still slide but maybe not enough to compensate for a worn hinge pin.

Thanks again!!

Is there any evidence that the hinge pillar has been repaired? I had the same issue you are having after replacing the lower hinge pillar which has the lower hinge pocket within it. I measured wrong when I cut the old one off and welded the new one in which would not allow movement of the door up or down.

I am aware of the captive nut in that recess, but could never understand why I have never seen a bolt in there.
