My question is: The original engine has been replaced with a 250 in the truck I am looking at. How can I determine what the original engine was? I would like to know if it was a 230 or 292. I do not think it was a V8 283.

| | | | | Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 70 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 70 | The engine mounts where offset on a 292 if it ever had a 292 in it there would be evidence of the perch being bolted in the forward set of holes. The data plate on the left kick panel could have the engine info on it, earlier years did but not sure when they stopped it, They left the factory with a sticker on the inside of the glovebox door that listed all the options if it had an optional engine in it then it would be specified on the sticker.
