on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2019 Posts: 25 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2019 Posts: 25 | Hello. I have just purchased a 1954 3600 3/4 ton and have lots of questions. I am searching the web and ordering a few books and manuals along the way. I used the VIN buster to determine I have a truck from Atlanta and it is a commercial truck. It has a 5 window cab and a some what of a home made flat bed on duals. First thing I needed to do was replace a broken front leaf spring, WOW, lots of learning already. My first big question is it has 8 lug hubs on the front. Is this something I can update to disc brakes? Seems the only kits I can find are for 5 and 6 lug (1/2 ton) trucks? Looking forward to working on this truck but already see how it can be overwhelming for sure. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,439 Moderator - The Electrical Bay | | Moderator - The Electrical Bay Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,439 | Welcome to the 'bolt. This is not really the forum to ask too many questions though. Please use the specific forums for questions pertaining to that forum. Check the tech tips for that brake conversion... or ask about it in the Big Truck forum.... have fun and don't lose hope.

Hope the Storm doesn't ruin your week. Lots of great folks here. Just post questions in the most appropiate forum and we'll do the rest.

Driveline forum is a good place to start for your brake questions, the big bolt section is for 1 1/2 and bigger trucks so, that would not be applicable to your 3/4 ton. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 17 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 17 | Welcome! As you can tell from my post count I haven't been very active here. However my project '51 3600 is finally starting to progress with a long way to go so I may be on here more often in the future. I tried to send you a PM but got this message "Stroehlman is over their Private Topic limit." and don't know exactly what that means since you're new here. Anyway, if you can PM me, please do. I'm outside Jacksonville so not an insurmountable distance from you. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | ADH
It is possible that a new members cannot use PMs until after they have posted at least 5 different posts/topics? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2019 Posts: 25 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2019 Posts: 25 | ADH I'll see what I can do so we can get together. Would love to have someone else with a 3600 to talk to very much! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,440 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,440 | One or both, add an email to your profile. Then you can contact each other until Stroehlman gets enough posts to PM.
