I didn't enjoy putting the tube assembly together the first time, and look forward less to doing it again. Would there be a problem slitting the cork, placing the slit to the top of the cover, and using a bit of permatex to re-seal it? Not trying to be lazy, just looking for an acceptable solution. Having said that I would use RTV at the slit joint if I tried that. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2017 Posts: 9 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2017 Posts: 9 | Well, I just bit the bullet and disassembled it and did it properly. Went better than I expected. This was my late fathers truck and he was a perfectionist in every sense of the word. I know that if he were here and heard me even talking about doing it any other way, I would have gotten an ear full. I don't think the glued cork splice would have stood up to the movement that goes on in that assembly. It isn't much movement, but it can be abrupt.
