Hello everyone. My name is Luke and i just recently picked up a ‘49 GMC 3/4 ton truck. Its been apart in boxes in between 2 barns since the 70’s. I belive its a original paint Ferrara blue truck with the light blue wheels. Very little rust, great floors and frame and only real issues are very bottom of cab corners and bottom of front fenders. Everything else including frame is actually very clean. When I bought it I basically got a cab sitting on a frame with axles still under it. I work fast so i started piecing it together quick and found that 90% of the parts i needed were actually there with some digging. The motor was out and bad and I honestly had no intentions of using it anyways. My goal with this truck is to have a all stock “appearing” period correct driver. Not a show truck and not a rat rod but a truck i will use and enjoy in every season except winter. I already have a 5.3 in it out of a 2001 silverado and its all hooked up to the stock 3 speed with column shift that I modified to work right. Its running and driving minus brakes right now but it does yard drive just fine. Should be on the road in next few weeks once brakes are all done and i mount my tires on my ford 16” wheels with stock gmc hub caps. I will try to post up some pics and some of the cool points of the truck. Im a younger guy (35) and I normally drive something more along the lines of a chevy LS turbo powered drift car thats chopped up to holy hell and a monster on the street but im taking a different route with this truck and just making everything stock work. For instance the floor start pedal still starts the 5.3 engine thumbs_up I hope to be on here often and give updates of the progress. Thanks for having me.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

WELCOME ... Luke and, your very nice 49 GMC.

I once found a '53 3100 still sitting in a 'tractor shed' -- in Richardson, Tx ... a long time ago ... and, should have hung-on-to-that-one !

But, I sold that truck --- (Doubled my Money in about an hour) --- but, it was a keeper , I was just too young, then.

again, Welcome and keep those "very cool pictures coming" .... nice find .

jim
