I have not been able to locate the accelerator rod that connects to the gas pedal. When the truck was disassembled a few years ago, all small parts were placed in an old filing cabinet, but for some reason it is not there. Ugh!
The manual shows it to be part number 3701623 and a google search returned info that it is 17 3/16 inches long.
Does anyone have a photo of this part? Please share, it may help me locate it.

The pics were from my '51. I don't know if there's a difference, but I doubt it. No need for a ball joint on the pedal, as the pedal's on a pivot to the floor. [on edit] I looked at the'47-'54 FAM (which is basically a collection of '54 documents) and on Section 6, sheet 3.00, it shows the accelerator rod with a ball fit into a socket on the pedal. That page is dated 5-1-53, so maybe a change was made about that date. My pedal definitely has a pinned joint to the accelerator rod.

'53 used the ball and socket gas pedal. I prefer the '47-'52 pin arrangement. If your linkage/bellcrank gets jammed up with the ball and socket pedal, you can't dig your toe under the gas pedal and free it up. All you do is pop the ball out of the socket. I guess GM saved a few pennies per truck with the simpler to install on the line, ball and socket design. Carl
