I went to replace the headlight switch on my 57 pickup and removed the switch knob with ease. When I tried to remove the retaining nut with a flat head screwdriver, I found the nut to be frozen in place. I tried spraying w-d40 in the hole and around it, but that made no difference. My question is, can I just drill into it to break it free?
Thanks in advance for any input!

I was able to press the button and get the shaft out easily. My issue is that I need to remove the switch itself and the threaded nut that holds the switch to the dash is frozen. You suppose to be able to take a flat head screwdriver and unscrew the retaining nut easily, but that's not the case here.

You may need to use a screwdriver like you would a chisel and using a hammer lightly tap the nut counterclockwise to get it to loosen up. Good luck.

I was able to drill out the retaining nut and break the old switch loose without damaging anything.
Thanks!
