What is a good way to get an affordable weld in IFS? I was thinking of getting the M2 crossmember separate, and going to the parts store for the rest. Is this good or should I buy a kit? What would it cost to piece out vs buying a $2000-2500 kit?

Any sugestions are appreciated.

Thanks! grin

Buy the kit! Its the best way. To much trouble messing with matching up parts to fit. Vs. a kit were all the parts were built to fit together

Bigbinaz, probably depends on teh type truck you have. Mine is 37 pickup with original chassis.
I welded a plate to the inside of chassis from about the cab to front. Then had a local streetrodder weld my crossmember under it and welded the coil spring towers in place with the brackets to attach the A-arms etc. Next i went to the junk yard and for 75 bucks took the front end out from under a 78 mustang II. blasted and cleaned them up, put in new joints and bushings, 85 bucks for chev bolt pattern rotors but still used the stang II calipers. Bolted in the 350/350 with malibu rearend and it drives real good. total cost in the front end,$800 including the fabrication/labor. One thing important was when we welded the rear cross member and the motor mounts we had a "dummy" block and tranny shell to make sure everything fit just right. you can see my truck here at the stovebolt gallery. look under the 36-40 year and under Alvin's...if you have lots of money...go kit...if in no hurry and want to do it all yourself then this is a possiblity....I spent 5 1/2 years on mine smile

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
