Still I wonder about things.. I figure they installed them with some type air stapler......but how much air did it take to shoot it though the cotton picking metal?????
And if they did use and air stapler, wonder why we can't find one as most old cars had them.....or is it that folks just don't want to opting to try use some other method .....or sticking staples in the same hole which can be a pain.
....and the staples had to be tough....much tougher that the ones we buy today, to stand up to the job.

I used thin stainless wire, threaded it through the “felt whiskers”, and then used needle nose pliers to twist tie it together. Then I pushed the tail back on itself. It has worked well so far. How about the ones which got punched through the inner fenders to hold the anti-squeak in place? The tag ends even rolled over just like a stapler does for pieces of paper.
I wondered why they did it that way, but then I guess that there was no such thing as a long lasting adhesive up to the task back then.
