I already removed the two screws that hold on the thrust plate and the camshaft slides out about 1/2 inch, then stops. It's hitting something, but I don't know what. What should I be looking for, or what did I forget to remove?

You may have to remove the distributor also. If it were me I would do this anyway because you will have to time it after the new cam is put in.

#12966 02/14/2002 6:41 AM | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 | After the lifters are pulled out from the cam, the distributor and fuel pump are out, line up the timing marks on the crank & cam gears. One of the crank counterbalances won't clear the cam journal unless everything is just right.
