Hello everybody!

My name is Steven and I live in the Netherlands with my wife and 2 kids.
Currently I own a 1969 C10 Fleetside longhorn and a 1958 C60 Viking, which is the project car.

Here the C10, being used properly

and the viking, which I bought cheap because it had a small interior fire

I'm a member of the 47-72 chevy truck forum, where you can find my build threads.
I'm mainly here for extra knowledge, because the Viking is hard to find info over, especially here in the Netherlands.

welcome to the site! I think you have a typo in your post, your Viking is a 59, correct? (you can edit your post )

looks like a bit more than a "small" interior fire in the Viking!

Steven, Welcome to the Stovebolt. Thanks for the pictures. Yes, trucks will earn their keep while a car is a pain on the pocketbook!

Glad to have you join us. Many folks, including me, belong to more than one web site. We believe that "Knowledge is the Best Resource".
While no one had it "all" I have found the Stovebolt to be at the top. Great guys abound here and willing to help.
Questions about the big truck would fit right in at the BIG BOLT Forum........does the big truck have a 348 engine in it??

See you around the garage.

Steve-W,

Welcome!
The Viking looks really cool. Do you have plans to put it to work?
Is there much of a classic truck culture in the Netherlands?

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome guys!
Achipmonk, no it's a 261 straight six, but we already have a new engine..[drumroll].. a 6.2 V8 diesel with a TH400 attached.
Hope you guys aren't all about period correct etc, because you won't like me much.
because one of our main plans is to shorten the wheelbase to 132"

So John if the 40 is a 1 1/2 ton, then the 60 is a 2 ton right?

And to answer your question Tom. In the Netherlands we have about 18 Million people and there are almost 6 million cars driving around
of which 141,000 are oldtimers (in the netherlands that means 40y or older)
the biggest share is Volkswagen, Mercedes and Volvo. there are oly 8,500 fords registered and less than 5,000 GM/Chevy's.

there's also al lot of youngtimers (aged between 25 and 40yo) but "we" consider them wannabee's.

Steve, that 261 is a good engine. I have a 261 rebuilt and in my 50 coupe. Awesome engine.....and around here we let folks know its your truck and you do what you want with it. Most of us start with a basket case and just preserve a piece of history.
It good to also know you have young men in the hobby. There are some young men here....and some not so young but younger than me! LOL

We are here to help.

Welcome.
Some folks here are into "correctness", others not so much. As has been stated, it's your truck. Do whatever you want with it. The important thing is keeping it on the road.
Keep us posted on your progress.

I'm flattered you calling me young, with the big 5-0 coming my way in 3 years I don't feel that young..

I've started a build threat in the big bolt section:

Welkom hier Steven!

Nice truck with lot's of potential! The medium-duty truck scene is growing in The Netherlands! I think by now I know of about 20 medium duty trucks in our small country.

I myself own a 1956 CMC 450. It needs some work to pass the RDW but it is a running and driving truck. I need to rebuilt my shop to be able to finish the truck but maybe in the near future I'll see you at one of the cruises.
