Where do I begin on converting my 52 1/2 ton to power steering? I've heard certain power steering pumps from certain old cars will work but do not know particulars.

The easiest way is to put a knob on your steering wheel.

I've been pursuing an answer to the same problem on my '59 Apache solid-axle P/U with drag-link steering. I currently have two potential solutions. 1) Use a C-3 Corvette power ram set-up with the valve/sensor hooked to the pitman arm and running to the driver's side spindle replacing the old drag-link. The hydraulic tubes would run to the power ram, which would run from the frame to the center of the cross-linkage. 2) I discovered that the '78 Dodge truck P.S. came in regular rotation and reverse-rotation. If one took a reverse-rotation box (like a Cardone 277515) and turned it 90 degrees such that the pitman shaft ran through the frame rail like the original box (at least on mine), then it would function as a drag-link box with the pitman arm hanging downward. This would require fabbing up a new mounting plate running at right-angles to the frame rail, but if you're handy it could work well. To turn right (at least on mine), the drag-link has to move to the rear, which would be counter-clockwise rotation of the pitman shaft. Good luck!

pirsch, go to www.brotherstrucks.com or www.cclassicperform.com. the latter is a ram type and pricey, 699.00 but this should be a long term investment. i have had to convince myself of this many times because i tend to be on the frugal side (cheap) hope this helps. ron

Don't the Toyota 4x4 boxes mount the same as the AD boxes? I've seen then recommended for Furds, but couldn't understand why not for Chevy's.

Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice)
\'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run.
My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787.
