I can't remember, but there might be. Otherwise, I wonder why they would bother to differentiate between Powerglide and non powerglide engines Could be an interesting bit of knowledge for all of us, as well as useful info about your own engine. I don't claim to know much, but what I have learned is that the info contained in the casting numbers, etc is significant and put there for a reason. Welcome to Stovebolt! John

Not there or no bushing?
Oh, and also welcome to the garage!!

John All Powerglide-equipped vehicles with 235 engines (1950 and later) used 235 engines with hydraulic lifters (except the 235-equipped 1953-55 Corvettes). Hydraulic lifters in all Powerglide-equipped low-pressure 235s from 1950-1953, and high-pressure 235s from 1953 and later. Mechanical lifters were used in all 216/235/261 truck engines: in low-pressure/high-pressure engines, except, maybe, in 1960 and later 235s in trucks equipped with the Powerglide transmission. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 | I don't know about any other W/Powerglide 235s, but the '53 W/Powerglide requires a special pilot bushing for the end of the crankshaft. Or you could have the machine shop make the hole large enough to accept a stock pilot bushing.

The number on the engine F0914B . Which in earlier post Mike said was powerglide transmission in passenger car. So I can assume the engine was replaced. Transmission original? I am very new to this. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | I don't think you told us what transmission you have...is it a 3 or 4-speed, or an automatic??? This old post might also help; but, it might also confuse? | | |
