Hoping to get the exact location to drill and any other tech tips, like drill bit size etc.
I know this seems like its an obvious answer, but I have a truck that came without tailgate latches, I ordered some and they have no instructions and I cannot find any searching this forum or google. Images do not show me much on google either. There is lots of info for the new hidden latch installs - but I like the chains.

I was just wanting to make are I did it correctly - as my truck seems to have all the original holes cover up from a hot rod era. I was hoping for something like drill a 1/2 inch hole through the truck sides, 2" down and 1.5" in or something. Ive search photos and its hard to zoom in to get the detail of where the eye hook is attached.
Can anyone hold up a tape measure next to theirs and take a photo?

And 1/2 inch in from the side edge. They look just like the picture you found. I think the most important part of the location is that you need to make sure that they do not interfere with the tailgate piece with the long slot. As you can see in the picture they are pretty close and mine have only about an 1/8 inch separation. Good luck.
