For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2018 Posts: 2 Moderated | | Moderated Joined: Oct 2018 Posts: 2 | Hoping to get lots of help here if I can get past my issues. Owner of a 1952 3800 pickup. Bought the truck to fix up but the Vin tag is missing and from what I have learned they didn't stamp the frame. Mass is a PIA on this stuff. I have a notarized bill of sale like they told me to get. The previous owner (mass resident)didn't register so they have an issue with that. He is no longer helpful, he has his money. Hopefully we can get this process straightened out and I can work on this beast. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,440 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,440 | Welcome to the Stovebolt madness. There is no cure. You fell into the “No VIN Plate” trap. Deal with that before you put any more money into the project. In the end you may just have a pile of used parts to sell in order to recoup some of your money. Use The Stovebolt Search for many lively discussions on missing VIN’s and titles. Good luck.

The criteria for offering you the option of getting a bonded title differs by state, and might differ between different DMV offices in the same state.
My trucks need a bonded title in NC, because I took off the ID plate in order to paint the cab.
Good luck. Please let us know how you proceed. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Woody, welcome to Stovebolt. Sorry your having such a battle but bolters usually preserver. The advice is not to put money into it till you get that resolved.....however, I know from experience one can hardly wait to move forward. There is tons of labor in these vehicles so I'd say, get to work, but only on those many things that eat up labor before the $$$. We are here to help. Please keep us posted. It looks nice sitting in my yard. I think I am going to put X-mas lights on it. 🤣🤕😫 | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 11 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 11 | | | | | | Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 1,101 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 1,101 | My 54 decorated for Christmas.
