I called the number and got no answer and the idea of getting the gears and all the other parts in one kit seems really easy for a novice like me. Anyway does anyone know of an other retailer that sells the gears and the other parts? Just type in Patrick’s.ðŸ›

It’s getting harder and harder to trust anybody anymore! So does anyone have a reliable vendor for ring and pinion and other parts needed for a high speed rear? There will be no BS from MT. Classic Parts sells an installation kit (which includes a tool or two). A dial indicator and stand will be needed - available from Harbor Freight and others. Read this Tech Tip several times - provided/written/produced by Chris. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 631 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 631 | | | | | | Joined: Sep 2018 Posts: 65 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2018 Posts: 65 | Thanks for all the info! I order gears from mothertrucker and install kit from classic parts. I’ll post my success or failure in about a month. I didn't initially buy an installation kit, but I ended up needing everything in the kit. I ended up buying the pieces separately and probably paid a penalty for it.

Did the 3:55 gear swap. I did not buy the install kit. Used the template on the DEVE site to make the spacer tool. Purchased OEM shims to set the pinion depth. The bearing can all be reused and no pressing or cutting is required to swap the gears.

Seems like a strange business model! Lol. Anyway I got the gears and install kit on the way so hopefully things will go well with the swap. Be on the lookout for tech questions once I get into it. Got my 3.55 setup from Patrick's many years ago. One of the best mods I've done to the green turd.
