I would like to know if the 'behind the seat' gas tank came painted from the factory and if so what color. The one removed from my truck was unpainted,
Thanks in advance. | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 | To the best of my knowledge all of the behind the seat gas tanks were unpainted. Hope this helps. Jim | | | | Joined: Jul 2018 Posts: 19 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jul 2018 Posts: 19 | My 56 3100 truck is mostly stock from my understanding and my gas tank is a light grey color.

It was hand-painted, and was applied on even the fuel line part that was accessible in the cab without the seat in place. The backside of the tank was bare steel.
It looked like the factory (or someone shortly thereafter) installed the tank, then hand-painted it to match the interior color.
Can PM you some pics if that helps.

And, I have seen them painted in-place, with no paint on the inside cab behind them. | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 481 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 481 | Thanks everyone for the information you have provided regarding gas tanks behind the seat. | | |
