Just saw this weatherstrip on a '53 truck for sale. I've owned three AD trucks, none of which had this. Is this OEM or did someone add it? Should I add it to my truck?

That weatherstrip is O.E. It helps with road drafts and dust.

I think I see three places where there might have been “weather strip”?
- on the outer cab, below the door opening
- between the running board and the cab
- on the bottom of the inside edge of the door

Yes, I should have clarified, I'm inquiring about the one on the cab floor sill that looks like a garden hose held on by a sill strip. I know the one on the door bottom is original equipment, so it seems like the "garden hose" one is redundant.

This says 37-46. The video shows the seal plate/rocker comes off with screws and the seal is retained by it. Maybe 53 is same or the previous owner used a 46 seal??

Thanks!

That's surprising. I've owned three ADs and none of them had that - not even the strip that holds it. Maybe it was an option?

Nope. That lower windlace was original equipment on all '50-'55.1 AD trucks. Earlier years also had them, but they were of a different style which were screwed into the side of the rocker panel, rather than through the top like in your picture.
This windlace seal is necessary to make up for the highly variable fitment of the door at the bottom where the door seal is compressed so tightly by the retainer that it does not seal much, if anything.
