My truck is a 1953 3600 Chevy. I don’t want to have to start swapping out starter motors or Bell housing or welding engine mounts etc as it’s to difficult backward and forward to the states for parts. Or would I be better looking for a full pressure 235.
My 216 is running very well at the moment but I would like to try my hand at a engine rebuild. I have experience building Rover V8s and Landrover’s in the UK.
Thanks Chris

Radiator might also need moved due to the low mount water pump on the 230. The 230 is a better engine by design, but the swap over would be difficult. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 | A 235 or a 261 would be a better choice for an upgrade. Both are virtually bolt-in swaps, depending on the year of manufacture of the larger engine. A 1954 or early-production 1955 235 or 261 would be the simplest to install. Late 55-62 engines need a little more tinkering, but they fit the existing bellhousing and motor mounts for the 216. Jerry
