my Body man says NP to hammer out an fix ...as it is OLD steel that is workable ...

At $40.00 per hour that is a lot of repairs to cost more than replacement (10 hours).I used to be a bodyman and I can do a lot of work in 10 hours.If the fenders are not rusted,just dents, I would go for repairing them & keep it original.

If the original fenders aren't rusted hammer them out, you will be much happier in the end.

As much as I know you would like to do them yoursef let the body shop do it. The originals will fit much better and the steel is twice as thick. You'll be happy. I am pretty good at doin all my own work but when it comes to body work....for 1 i hate it ! and 2 I am never satisfied with my results ON MY FINISHING OF A PAINT JOB .
I painted several cars over the yrs. an was never satisfied with how they came out and prefer to FARM OUT PAINT ....lol
