You won't lower it much, 1/2" to 3/4 or so. If you remove leaves, leave the two longest and take every other one, as told to me by a local spring shop. If you do this, the weight capacity will cut drastically. Try add teflon liners to the spring pack after cleaning each leaf. You will need to disassemble them, but they should have a good going through anyway.
