on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 | Well I posted earlier about checking a gel call battery in my son's 46 2 ton with a 1954 235.
The truck ran since the fall of 2016 with the rebuilt engine with the 1946 voltage regulator till this past Saturday. Then the battery went dead.
Checking out the truck today I found out that the voltage regulator went bad. Delco 1118201.
My dad has a NOS Delco 1118833 in the original box. Internet search say's that voltage regulator will fit Chevrolets 1948 to 1955.
It has been a long time since I changed a voltage regulator, was in 1986 on a 1969 Oldsmobile Delta. So is there anything special that I may have forgotten that needs to be done? Thanks, Jeffrey

Just connect a jumper wire momentarily (1 second) between the BAT and ARM terminals of the regulator after all the wiring connections are made. You'll get a pretty good flash- - - -that's normal. Engine running or stopped doesn't really matter- - - - -it works either way. Once the installation is complete, check the voltage at the battery posts with the engine running at a fast idle against a fully charged battery (IMPORTANT!) It should be somewhere close to 7.5 volts. Have fun! Jerry
