| | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 720 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 720 | I'm reassembling my front end and have all the tin together, just having a slight issue with the core support harware where it bolts to the fwd. cross member.
The mess of parts I took out was in sad shape and all of the leather/rubber/cardboard I took out was useless to me so I need to find a source for replacements or make something myself.
The main question I have is on the U-bolt, there are two springs and I want to make sure I place them correctly. Do they go in between the core support and the x-member, or under the X-member?

It should anser this and many other questions. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | I see ya got a GMC - might be retro, using the pre 55 setup - no U bolt in Chev TF rad mount hardware, nor a spring for that matter - for the Chevy TF years, there's mount pockets at the bottom of the core support, and the bolt goes thru those and some fat washers into the brackets that are riveted to the frame rails [not crossmember], and yes, an assembly manual is helpful, but I think there's not one for the GMC? here's a pic of the Chevy core support , I think you need to be looking for GMC specific info .... American Classic lists GMC specific rad mount pads, like this Bill | | |
