What I'm curious about is that the shifter has a button/switch on it like a hi/lo but the hi/lo switch is in the dash. It's possible the rear end has been upgraded to electric, and the dash button for the vacuum shift axle was not removed.

Is the gear shift knob red and it can be pulled up and down or is it a flip lever connected to a metal rod going down to the transmission? Pictures would help. Would make more sense for the dash switch to be pto or something else.

The truck is partially covered in a junk pile so I haven't been able to get to the serial number. We are going to go back up this weekend and try to uncover it and get some pictures. '37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
