When I bought my '51 panel it was full stock ride height, about 10-12 inches high. Over the last 10 months I've made many suspension mods and today I finally got started mounting the front fenders so I could visualize the results. It's now about 5 inches high at the fenders. To say I'm pleased with it's new look is an understatement!

What’s your plan with it? What color, etc. I lowered my 4”. I love the stance except the front axle is too low for my liking. It sits 4 1/2” off the ground. I am unable to crawl under her too do work without lifting her
Sorry guys, deleting photos. After months of work I was really proud of my accomplishment, but the disapproval I experienced from some senior members for lowering my truck really hurt my feelings, stanched my enthusiasm, and let me know that this is not the forum for me. I thought I'd get some acceptance here in the HiPo Forum, but I guess not. Evidently some people haven't learned the old maxim, if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.
No one said anything bad, you asked there opinion. Everyone here will still help you. Some guys prefer the original look and some guys do modifications to make it look how they want.
Once again the "Guys" have insulted a member over his/her choices with their truck. He did post in the HiPo Forum which is for those who modify trucks to their taste. He didn't ask for opinions only stating he was proud of his accomplishments. Come on folks we are better than this.
Your panel looks awesome, please don't let the naysayers chase you off.

I'm with Martin. Please don't let a few different opinions keep you from showing the rest with what you have and have done. I personally like to wear pink t-shirts to support Breast cancer awareness. Some of the guys think it is not manly but, I don't care. Post your pics back up, I would like to see them. And stay with us.

I don't know why you fellows who don't like lowered vehicles torture yourselves by coming onto the HiPo forum. If y'all don't like 'em, maybe y'all shouldn't look at 'em. But one thing's for sure: If you don't like it, you don't have to insult the owner by opening your mouth and telling him.

.....all take a chill pill. One of the best things about this site is that, for the most part, we tell newbies, and oldies, when asked about mods, that it is YOUR truck and do with it what YOU want. We all have our opinions and we all don't like the same things....but its YOUR truck, so do it YOUR way.
I don't care for lowered pickup trucks. I do however like the look of moderately lowered burbs. The burbs are a bit massive from the side, and lowering them slightly makes them look less like a school bus to me.

I'm not at all offended that someone doesn't like the way I chose to build my truck; what bothers me is that anyone would be rude enough to TELL ME they don't like it.
It's a simple matter of manners, courtesy and consideration. When I see someone else's build, I notice many things may be different than how I would have done them. But I keep my negative comments to myself and instead tell them (honestly) how much I like some other aspect of their truck. It's their truck and I respect their decisions and their efforts. I don't tell them how I think they SHOULD have done it. And I expect and appreciate the same courtesy from them.
1st off, I'd like to see the pic. I must have looked that 1st post over for hr's looking for a link to the pic.... OK, not hr's but for awhile I thought there was something wrong with the forum and was going to report it to IT LOL..... Then I read on. Constructive criticism? Perhaps..
I used to think that "slamming" a pickup truck was counterproductive to it's intended mission, then I traded for a slammed truck. My how the worm has turned... I now see all the hard work, engineering, research & design and cost put into a vehicle that's soul purpose is to please it's owner/builder.
I have a 49 AD thats still majority stock and enjoy it for what it is and I work it as a truck. I believe the front bumper is 13" off the ground. As long as I have it it will retain it's OEM characteristics. I enjoy everything about it as it takes me back to the 40's where one had to know how to operate a vehicle to drive it.
I have another 49 AD that someone else lowered via the kits and design thinking of the 80's (A guesstimate) and it is also a joy to drive. It has a much later model drivetain and alot more performance. The front bumper is between 5"- 6" off the ground so I have to be more careful negotiating speed bumps, pot holes and other obstructions on the road but I'm finding getting in and out of it is a whole lot easier than the stock AD. And it gets alot more thumbs up too. . It's for fun and a very lite work. The look is growing on me. So much so that I'm exploring new options to improve it's ride and retain it's low stance.

I'd like to see the pics, but the attitude that is scaring you away is exactly the reason I don't hang around here anymore. That said, the reason I stopped in was to PM a couple members who are great guys who I do keep in touch with from time to time. Don't give up on everyone here.

I'm frustrated. I had to look at pictures of Dave and Echo's trucks just to calm down. I can't believe you made me beg for truck pics. Man, I hope my wife doesn't find out.
