[b][/b] Today was a good day. Couldn't get king pins out...ok I didn't try. With my 51 3600 frame on stands...I decided since I am replacing everything I decided to put jack under straight axel and cut u bolts and drop front axel. That went well and after a year away from wrenching... the spending game back on! gonna have king pins pressed out. I was worried about spending more and more money I didn't want the boss yelling at me ...then I remembered I haven't been married in years...im the boss and hate yelling...so I ordered a quick 1,600 more in new stock leafs..shocks.. u bolts u name It..then just for giggles went to another site and ordered king pin set,,that added to the other 1600 on all new windows..door guts..weather seals..floor pans cab corners..inner outer cowls..and much more. It would be nice to shift to putting it together to show the fruits of my spending. The whole in my pockets are getting bigger..the grin on my face for doing something I never thought I could do mechanically like my dad would do is bigger! Thank you fellow bolters...I couldn't do it without you...well maybe just the money spending im good at that.

The biggest hump to get over is the money pit aspect. You have made a huge leap in overcoming that obstacle.Keep us posted on your build.

I learned the hard way to buy the parts as your ready to use them

Just in case you want to return someting or happened to order the wrong part.

Sometimes if you order parts to early the return period will pass.


Ive actually had rubber parts go bad sitting in the box before I had a chance to install it.


But then again it took me 3 years to do about 4 months worth of work.

....its not about the money. Its about "can do", pride, and just for the heii of it. Work on it everyday, some little something and you will be amazed at the motivation and something to show for your work.....after all, this "girl" will pay dividends! LOL

I definitely will keep working on it everyday. Wish I didn't take a year off but I got frustrated when the cab wasn't taken away and worked on as agreed upon...ive learned a couple things so far...buy things when you can. Every time I hesitate because of price when I go back it's gone ...so if something comes buy that I know is a hard to come by part...like front 8 lug drums on my 51 3600....i buy and store. For instance...i have an extra bedroom thats the 51...loaded with all new glass..rubber seals floor pans cab corners inner outer cowls..gauges..even my truck doors. Yeah I'm not married anymore..to bad I miss her dusting my parts off...another thing I learned is no one is gonna do work on my truck as fast as I desire..so I take the leap and venture in the unknown...worked well for me when I restored a boat..and believe me I had no business ripping the whole thing apart..never even owned one...but I could dock a 560 ft nuclear ballistic trident submarine no problem so I jumped right in.

Welcome aboard. The only association I had with nukes was, I was told we carried some that would go boom boom on the old flat top I spent alittle time TAD on. The Rosey was much too old for nuke propulsion but she could get up enough speed to launch and recover Phantoms and a host of other turbine & reciprocating powered gravity defeating machines.

I like to collect parts as I find them on the cheap, then buy the expensive parts on a JIT basis. Like DAD said sometimes one can hold onto parts for so long they've either gone past returning or you've decided to go in another direction.

I find that I can easily get into wrenching mode by getting around the project, turn on some good tunes and tune the rest of the world out. Some like the journey and some like the finished product, nothing wrong with either. Liking both is highly enjoyable.
